Fabric selection is where every piece begins. Before I sketch anything, I spend time with fabric. I touch it, hold it to the light, drape it and see how it moves. I consider weight, texture, and color in different lighting.

Quality You Can Feel

Good cotton has a certain weight and drape. Good linen has a crispness that softens beautifully with washing. Cheap fabric feels thin, papery, and lifeless. I source from suppliers who share my values around quality and sustainability, preferring natural fibers that breathe and age beautifully.

Color Matching Is an Art

For patchwork pieces, I often spend more time choosing color combinations than sewing. The wrong shade of coral next to the wrong gold can ruin a piece. But the right combination looks like it was always meant to be together. I draw inspiration from nature, where colors transition and complement with effortless logic.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

— Proverbs 16:9

I plan, but the best results come when I surrender to the process and let the materials speak.
